Fresh dates

– also great for cakes, salads etc


Chocolate cake with dates

2.5 dl sifted flour

1.5 tsp baking powder

1.25 dl chopped dates

1.25 dl chopped walnuts

1 tsp grated lemon rind

1 dl oil

2.5 dl brown sugar

2 tbsp cocoa powder

2 tbsp light syrup

1 egg

60 g dark chocolate



Preheat oven to 180º C.

Combine flour, baking powder, dates, walnuts and lemon rind.

Make a well in the centre.  

Combine oil, brown sugar, cocoa powder and syrup in a pot and stir over low heat until everything is melted

and the sugar is dissolved.


Beat in eggs.

Pour the oil mixture into the flour mixture and combine.

Pour batter into a greased cake pan and bake for approx. 25 minutes.

Melt chocolate and slowly drizzle over the cake.
